Alexis has been virtually on every role of the life cycle of a business and a businessman, from machine operator to frontline manager and CEO. He has been an employee, entrepreneur, investor, director, and international consultant with McKinsey & Company in both the US and Latin America. He has founded a business incubator, worked in startups, family businesses and multinationals. Raised capital, participated in key transitions of companies and their owners, such as the transition from family business to professional, raised capital, and participated in Initial Public Offering. He has led multiple business buying and selling processes (M&A) around the world. Also, he has mediated in many conflicts, both within companies and between partners and family. For many years he has led the consulting firm he founded focused in helping business owners to have more and better free time so they can channel their creativity toward making new offerings that improve a fractured world. Alexis is an Industrial Civil Engineer and Master in Economics from the University of Chile and MBA from the MIT.

La Jaula de Oro tells the story about Federico, a businessman like many others, who is trapped within his own company. This also has affected his family life, and now he faces a marital crisis. Alexis, on the other hand, is the one who tells the story. He is a consultant who came across Federico in a seminar where he explained why is typical that business owners get trapped in their companies (the phenomenon that Alexis has named as La Jaula de Oro (The Gold Cage)) and how it is possible to get out of it, on a planned and structured way. In the book Alexis explains the method and tells how Federico goes through it. It is a book aimed to business owners who are immerse on their business on a daily basis. And intends to contribute to freeing them up and make their companies less dependent on them, so they can make a better use of their time away of the pitty matters of the day to day. It also aims to build a proactive and independent management in the process. The lessons are drawn from stories of real clients. So it is like a light novel with business insights. The name "La Jaula de Oro" (The Gold Cage) is because many business owners typically end up trapped in their companies. They can not even take vacations without their businesses suffering. The book teaches how to build a good management team (like the books of Patrick Lencioni).
