The soldiers find Tiyana in Pietro’s home, mistakenly assume he is harboring her as a fugitive, and Pietro joins Tiyana as an unwilling outlaw. The two hijack a ship in hopes of finding help from the surrounding islands and eventually, Pietro proves himself loyal to Tiyana. She finds herself forced to make a difficult choice: does she fight for a people who will forever see her as a naïve orphan or run away with the mortal enemy?

Adult/Young Adult cross-over, epic fantasy lovers who are tired of the classic Anglo-medieval setting, and want to spice things up with a little ancient islander/with Jewish undertones.

The story is a fantasy version of exodus, so symbols such as blood and fire would work. The story also takes place over seven tropical islands, three on each side with a middle island dividing them, so anything symbolic of that, ships on the water. Slavery is a huge element in this book, so symbols for chains and liberty. Other recurring symbols throughout the book is a bottle of mead (wine). There are also three gods: the Sun, the Sea, and the Storm, and there is one God that encompasses all of these in one, so something with those three elements would be cool. The main character is a teenage girl with dark hair. She's a slave with tattered clothing and barefeet/sandals. She befriends a wealthy man, Pietro, with silver hair tied back in a braid. The two save The Golden Lady, a Queen who dresses in gold from her head to her toes, from the evil King, a man also with silver hair and elaborate ancient robes. The King's son is blond, a 12-year-old boy, and is currently friends with an enslaved girl. But later in the series, he will lose this innocence and become a villain. I'm giving you details about the characters not because I want to see their faces, but a silhouette would be interesting. I really am not big on people on covers because I think it takes away from the imagination aspect.

I really dislike realistic photos of people on fantasy covers.
