Biografía del autor
Ricardo Hurtado MT-BC, NMT is a Music Therapist Board-Certified graduated in the University of Georgia. He holds a certification in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT), a research-based music therapy specialization that implements standardized clinical techniques for speech and language, sensorimotor and cognitive training. Ricardo works with various populations including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome (DS), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Stroke (CVA), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Parkinson's Disease (PD), Huntington's Disease (HD), and other neurological and developmental conditions affecting communication, cognition and movement. Furthermore, Ricardo has provided music lessons for more than 25 years to neurotypical individuals and to individuals with special needs. Ricardo has been particularly passionate in discovering new and innovative ways to implement both music therapy and music education disciplines. For this reason, Ricardo has developed the CYBERSTRA™ Method (formerly known as the Cyber Orchestra Method), a music education virtual orchestra program designed for mainstream classrooms to teach essential music-ed concepts and standards and to facilitate a learner-friendly keyboard-orchestra ensemble experience with specific modifications to special learners. Furthermore, Ricardo served as conference clinician at the Music Meets Medicine Conference 2019, Molloy College NY, hosted by the Interdisciplinary Society of Quantitative Research on Music and Medicine (ISQRMM). During the conference, Ricardo provided research findings that were done in collaboration with the University of Georgia music therapy director. Ricardo also served as Special Education clinician at the Music Educator Association (CMEA) Southwestern 2019 and 2020 Conferences. Ricardo currently works at Education Through Music -LA as a General Music Teacher/ Therapy Specialist and Children Choir Director. Ricardo oversees the special needs education department and provides continuous training and support to more than forty teachers in special education. Ricardo also serves as a Special Needs Department Representative at California Music Educators Association Southwestern Section.

A Music Education Methodology designed to include Students with Special Needs and the Low-income Sectors. The Cyberstra Method is a research-based low budget music ed program that combines both Music Education and Music Therapy disciplines. It is designed for Inclusive and Mainstream classroom settings to meet essential music education standards and to increase non-musical developmental abilities through facilitating an accelerated yet learner-friendly keyboard-orchestra ensemble experience. The Cyberstra Method consists in creating a virtual orchestra with electronic piano keyboards. Most of today’s standard electronic music keyboards feature a variety of prerecorded sound voices, including those pertaining to orchestra instruments like: violins, flutes, clarinet, horns, piano, bass, etc. The Cyberstra Method is designed to produce virtually the same enriched sound of an orchestra performance.
