Some are born with silver spoons in their mouths. Michael Forester was born with a pen in his hand. He writes at the fulcrum of perceived reality in metaphorical fiction and inspirational non-fiction. He is author of eight published books to date with further release planned. This is an unusual project because at present I sell almost all of my books face to face at conventions and shows. I'm also a cross genre author, writing both fiction and non fiction - my books do not conform to a single genre identity. The cover you design needs both to attract attention on a roller banner & on my table and also to complement the range of books I already offer. Take a look at the images in this brief to see how it works and then come up with something that will stop my customers in their tracks and compel them to make a bee-line to my table, where your cover design itself compels them to pick the book up.
But your design also has to work on line at thumbnail level, because for 2020 I'm about to increase my focus on on-line selling - e books and probably physical paperbacks through Amazon etc.
If you win this competition, you have to be up for working with me and modifying your design - my covers usually go through several revisions until we're both happy it's what it needs to be.
If you do win, it's highly likely I'll want to work with you again - I usually publish one or two titles per year.

However, I sell the vast majority of my books in person at events in the UK - conference and conventions, county shows etc. I gain initial interest by displaying roller banners for each of my books behind my table, so
the ability of the book to stand out on a dedicated roller banner is crucial. Once a potential buyer's attention is gained, the ability of the book to attract attention by its cover on my stand is equally important. Commonly I then engage buyers in conversation and place the book into their hand. Usually they then turn it over and read the back cover blurb. The physical appearance of the book and the ability of the cover to engage and convey content is therefore crucial.
