Helium
Whitemoon Dreams, Inc. is a small video game start-up located in sunny Pasadena, CA. We are currently working on a new engine and toolset for creating video games. Parts of this project will be open source and are an evolution of work from the Nocturnal Initiative, which is graciously sponsored by Insomniac Games, Inc.
The open source project we're working on is called 'Helium'. Helium is an editor for creating video game worlds. We need some help developing the icons and logo for Helium. That's where you come in...
Our target audience is diverse: video game developers from around the world. Initially, we're targeting western and Asian game developers. Our users are highly technical and artistic; they have an eye for advanced tools and our icon set needs to reflect that. At the same time, it must be usable and iconic. This isn't a small challenge, and we're looking for a designer who's capable of creating an icon set that will make our tools both attractive and usable.
The attached art request document outlines the needs of our project. We need roughly 100 icons and a logo. As such, we expect this to be a longer term (1-3 months) relationship with the designer that's chosen for the project.
The prize listed is for completing all the work outlined in the attached art request document! (see: 'Deliverables Checklist')
Designers should submit a small concept/sample for this project. The sample should consist of selections from the art request document:
- A project logo
- Verb Overlays: Create
- Status Overlays: Binary Data
- Core Icons: Open
- Revision Control Icons: Active
- Revision Control Status Overlays: CheckedOutBySomeoneElse
- Editor Icons:
- Entity
- BackfaceCulling
- RotateTool
This sample should be submitted as a single image on 99designs.com.
Based on the samples, we will choose a designer who best captures the direction we'd like to go as outlined in the attached art request document. We will then work with that designer to complete the project, communicating throughout the process to ensure we're on the same page. Upon project completion, we will release the prize to the designer.
Please read the attached art request document carefully! This is a large project and you should be comfortable with the licensing terms, the prize release criteria stated above, the ongoing nature of the project, etc.
Thanks!
