Design a cute mascot for a mindfulness app for children

We are going to provide everything which is somehow connected with mindfulness for children. Our first product will be a meditation app for children. Our main target group are children in the age between 6 and 14.

We are looking for a mascot representing our brand and becoming part of our app. The mascot should become an initial part of our communication towards our users, which are mainly children in the age between 6 and 14 (m/w). We don't have any detailed ideas about what we are looking for. The mascot should symbolize the basic ideas of mindfulness (calmness, focus, happy, fun, openminded, ...) It should be gender neutral or at least address boys and girls equally. It could be a human character as well as an animal or something completely fictional. The character should be kind of cute and not too serious, as we want to build a positive feeling and something children are open to interact with. The character should not be too detailed or realistic, due to the fact that this makes it easier to recognized by younger children and it is easier for us to work with the figure in later stages.
The character should guide the children through the learning process. If possible it should go through a transformation process from a beginner (untrained, unfocused mind) to become a "master meditator" (very relaxed, focused, clear minded). Maybe it's also an idea that the mascot symbolized the mind itself (don't know how this could be accomplished)

As I wrote, the mascot should become a major part of our application and services. Which might include animations, videos and several other visual representations of the character. Which means, there is an option for the winning designer, that this design competition can start a long lasting commercial relationship. I would be very happy to find someone how supports us down the road and brings his creation to live. Besides working with the mascot other design tasks (logo, CI design, ...) will follow but should take the mascot in consideration that's why this is our first step.
