The logo includes two parts
1) our NAME and a SYMBOL alongside each other in a rectangular box, with the symbol sitting to he left of the name, making it significantly wider than it is tall (ratio of 4-5:1).
2) our SYMBOL separate from the name, sized to fit in rectangle with an approx 3:4 ratio, with it being slightly taller than it is wide
The logo should versatile enough to work against many different backgrounds, including as a monochrome so that we can match it with different customers' color palettes and design schemes. We must be able to use the name & symbol together, but also individually too (ie only the name for marketing, or just the symbol as a button).
See the attached wireframe of the landing page to understand how the site will be laid out and where the logo will fit on it.
-Symbol Idea #1: choose a more ABSTRACT IMAGE (maybe a speaker? document? text? microphone?) than a detailed drawing. The important thing is that it should communicate to users that by clicking on it, they'll see a video transcript. Pls NO SOUND WAVES.
-Symbol idea #2: choose a funny CARTOON (animal? robot?) that doesn't try to communicate the functionality at all and instead we go for a pure branding a la the Plancast Penguin (http://plancast.com). Think ironic-funny cartoon, not cutesy. Use a FLAT IMAGE and SOLID COLORS.
-NO 3-D images.
-Please NO stock images
-Color: COLOR IS GOOD. Be tasteful and stylish, but use it! See the "brands we like" for ideas.
-AVOID: brown, pastels, "play" button symbols
