The USENIX Association is a membership organization that serves its community primarily by organizing technical conferences and publishing a bimonthly magazine, conference proceedings, and short topics booklets.
We began in 1975 as the original UNIX users group and now have over 5000 active members in USENIX and its special interest group for system administrators.

Our membership is mainly comprised of sysadmins, engineers, and computer scientists with diverse interests ranging from security, through file and storage technologies, to operating systems design. We serve everyone from very serious top-tier academics to the Star Wars loving uber-geeks you see on TV and in movies.
Our logo needs to represent USENIX as a modern, technically advanced, professional, yet fun organization. We strive at building a strong sense of community within our various markets.
The logo should be sophisticated, but not stuffy in order to appeal to our diverse community which ranges from serious to causal.
We would like the logo to include a unique graphical representation with out using clip art or stock photos. Our current logo uses just letters, and we'd like to avoid that in the future.
The logo must work well in both a Web and print format. The logo should not rely solely on color as the distinguishing element; it will be used as much in greyscale format is it will in color.
We should have versions that include our tagline: The Computing Systems Association and some that don't.
The files should be created in Adobe Illustrator CS3 or lower. Please save all files in native (.ai) format, not .eps, and outline all fonts.)
