I'm a Stanford Computer Science graduate living in Los Angeles. My background has been in start-ups in the fields of technology and finance. I am an entrepreneur and student of life.
My company is called "Redlyne" (a play on the word "redline"), and it is creating an exciting new system to revolutionize the field of law through artificial intelligence techniques. The company is building web-based products to make the work of attorneys more effective and efficient, aiming to modernize the field of law for its practitioners and clients.
The culture of the company is very technology-centric. The core of the team is engineering, and the culture definitely has a geeky, tech-savvy feel.
When I think about Redlyne, the themes and feelings that come to my mind are as follows:
-cool, sleek, advanced technology
-extremely simple and easy-to-use user interface
-easy to learn and adopt
-passion for technology
-passion for the future and modernizing an old-fashioned field
I am looking for a broad appeal to both tech-savvy users and non-tech-savvy users. The potential customers are attorneys both at law firms and also at corporations (in-house counsel), and in the future, even normal citizens/law clients will be customers. Therefore, the logo should appeal to all types of clients (but mostly attorneys for now).
The main target audience is the most tech-savvy users who appreciate technology and see how it can benefit their business. However, lawyers by default are often very conservative and resistant to new technology (and not very tech savvy). The logo should be warm and welcoming and accepting of even non-tech-savvy users. It should be a familiar, simple type of logo that lawyers would recognize from the technologies they are already aware of (Google, Facebook, Skype, etc.).
The demographic is probably a slightly older demographic, probably mostly male as well. However, as noted above, the appeal should be broad, as the initial target customers will be younger and more tech savvy.
The logo should somehow straddle the divide between the old-fashioned, conservative elegance of the legal field (old wood-grain offices with green leather couches) to the modern, sleek, high-tech legal field of the future.
I am looking for a logo for my company called Redlyne.
Feel free to be creative with colors, shapes, layouts, paying attention to my personal and company information above as well as the target audience. Probably the color red deserves to be in the logo somewhere, maybe even with a red line, but you can be creative and abstract about this. The name "Redlyne" comes from the way attorneys edit contracts, underlining changes and edits in red color.
A few thoughts:
-Clear, simple, bold typeface
-Representing modernizing the field of law, applying technology to make lawyers more efficient and effective; helping everyday people down the line with the law
-The focus of the products is on contract law initially.
-The logo can have the company name in upper- or lowercase (sort of like the Facebook logo) or all caps, depending on what you think looks better.
The files we will require are as follows (in addition to whatever you normally provide):
-Print file format
-Web file format
Please do not use any stock images or clip art in the logo.
