Our brand centers around people who are passionate about the water. The client's passion needs to be OUR passion. If you are a fisherman or a surfer or a sailer you should come to our page and think, "Wow, these people are just like me!"
The previous versions of our logo have featured the ship's wheel. We love the ship wheel, but it doesn't speak to everyone. What we NEED is a logo that is legible, unique in style, will look awesome on a car window, and has the ability to change elements out to appeal to specific demographics***
One thing we love, and would like to incorporate if possible (but NOT a requirement) is the use of negative space to evoke an image. Be it a pirate ship, a manta ray, a sea turtle, whatever...we are a nautical brand, it would be cool to be able to sneak some marine life or nautical references into the negative space in the logo.
Color is not an issue, other than the logo needs to work monochromatic. You can add as much color as you like, but it has to look good in solid black or white, too.
In addition to the Getting Nauti logo, the G and the N will need to look good when placed together as just those two letters. See the Salt Life (SL) example attached for an idea of that I mean.
Our current logo is attached. As you can see, it is a tall vertical logo. We would prefer a horizontal logo that will look better on shirt left chest, sleeve, or the top of a page.
***A great example of a logo that elements are changed out to appeal to specific demographics is the Salt Life brand. They can change elements to appeal to SCUBA divers, surfers, fishermen, sea life enthusiasts, etc. I am including a few images of the way they use their logo to illustrate what I mean by using different design elements.
PLEASE READ THIS:
You may notice my comments on the logos I "liked" from 99 Designs' Design Inspiration. If you read my comments you will see I DO NOT like having a design element just sitting on top of the brand name like it's just an afterthought. I do not want a design in that style.
