1. Situation Analysis/Background Information:

Global Auction Network, LLC is launching a subscription-based, broadband network that will capitalize on the explosive growth in the areas of worldwide art, antiques and collectibles while utilizing the ever-growing distribution channel of broadband delivered content and services. Global Auction Network will deliver live auctions from leading regional auction houses in the United States and Europe, with viewing and bidding made available to registered users and subscribers via broadband video over the internet. Global Auction will create a destination website and community by aggregating content from regional auction houses throughout the United States and Europe.

2. Objective:

Develop clean compelling logo and brand identity system that clearly communicates, articulates and telegraphs Global Auction Network benefits and sensibility:

 Opportunity to be in the room at live auctions from premier auction houses around the world
 Multi-camera, multi-view, multi-auction user experience
 State-of-the-art Web 2.0 technology that delivers a safe, secure and robust bidding and transaction platform

3. Target Audience:

Primary:

Potential affiliated Auction Houses: Over 2,900 auction houses worldwide that deliver almost 6 billion in sales revenue each year. By and large, these houses convey a time-honored sense of tradition, wealth, erudition and tastecatering primarily to those who have the access, wealth, knowledge and sensibility similar to the houses themselves.

Industry Professionals: Art and antiques industry professionals, collectors, dealers, auctioneers, curators, corporate art and antique buyers, and interior designers buying for themselves and on behalf of clients

High net worth collectors Both domestic and global (there are approx. 5 million US collectors -- of whom 500,000 have collections valued at $250K+)

Secondary:

The Aspirational Mainstream Consumer: either of high net worth, but new to collecting and/or online auctions, or of moderate to low net worth who has an interest, passion and aspiration to become a collector.

4. What do we want to say?

Global Auction Network is the pre-eminent provider of broadband delivered video auctions on a global scale - we want to instill and embolden confidence and marketplace authority through graphical and type representation

5. Tone and Manner:

 Technologically advanced and cutting edge
 Confident
 Authoritative
 Knowledgeable
 Traditional but not stodgy
 Sophisticated, but not too much so unapproachable for broader audience (appealing those interested not immersed in the world of high-end auctions)
 Elegant but not too high brow

7. Additional Info/Insights:

It is very important that first and foremost, the logo and brand identity appeal to our potential distribution partnersthat it elicits confidence, trust and authority, and technological superiority. And while it is equally important that the logo appeals to the ultimate end user, its fair to assume that the sensibilities of our participating auction house partners are very similar to the sensibilities of our ultimate consumer.

With that said, pay particular attention to the logos of the auction houses themselvesits often helpful to speak to someone when echoing their tone and style. The existing online providers logos (ebay, ubid, etc) are too loud, boisterous and mainstream to meaningfully appeal to this segment, while the logos of the two primary middleware providers more successfully echo an auction house sensibility without being too stodgy or staid.

In terms of priority on the Global Auction Network logoemphasis should rather heavily weigh to GLOBAL AUCTION, with the word network in a secondary position.
