Vanderveldt Sisters Foundation
My sister and I are starting a foundation to help women in need. The needs we want to address are varied- whether the women need help because they are oppressed due to the society/culture they live in (e.g., they cannot vote, are frequently are victims of sexual violence, etc.), or because they suffer from domestic abuse, for example. We want to do 2 things: 1) We want to help raise awareness of the issues surrounding why they are oppressed (for instance- make people aware of the problems occurring in other countries as well as in the U.S.); 2) We want to empower these women to have a better life. We will do this by providing them with the tools necessary to be more independent (whether it's teaching them crafts/trades they can use to support themselves; helping to get them the emotional support they need; possibly set up shelters). Our first project is helping the women in Haiti by not only providing them with resources- but to empower them to live better lives by partnering with Whole Planet (which is Whole Foods' nonprofit organization). Whole Planet will take the $ we give them and get it to a microfinance program in Haiti that will give these women the money to start their own businesses, support themselves and their kids, and be more independent.
The foundation has been created to help women in need- who are unable to help themselves due to their personal situations (if they suffer from abuse or are being oppressed) or do not have the resources to receive help. We are donating personal funds to this foundation that will come out of our salaries. However, in order to raise awareness we will need a logo that people will remember- that we can use with different press agencies, news agencies, and a logo that can hold its own when we partner with prominent organizations such as Whole Foods (which, as mentioned, we are doing currently). We are targeting people who are altruistic at heart- who might be willing to help us help these women- or will help raise awareness of the issues. We also want to raise awareness so women in need can learn about us and use us as a resource.
The logo should be sleek, classy, dignified. We are women helping women, so the logo could have notes of femininity. Perhaps we'll use something simple- like just the letters/an acronym- perhaps it will be a symbol that represents who we are and what we are here to accomplish- perhaps it will be a combination of the two. However, we want the logo to have a certain presence about it. We are excited to see your proposals- so feel free to add your creative touch that also meets the above requirements. We want the logo to be memorable- but not overly flashy. For instance, with the W Hotel- when people see the "W" in a city they know what it's for and there is a reputation that comes along with that. Again- maybe we'll keep it very simple, but maybe not. We want a logo that is distinct and catches people's attention. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
