We are an independent software shop that specializes in apps for the iPhone. Our applications combine entertainment with social features. One of our next apps will be a game for the casual market. Another app we have in the pipeline is a client for a social network. We have the ambition to become a major force in this arena.
The name Option-U is derived from the way you enter German umlauts on a Mac: when I want to write the o umlaut in my last name, I have to enter Option-U, then 'o' on the keyboard (http://www.ehow.com/how_9305_umlaut-mac.html).
The o umlaut is a special character in the German alphabet - similar to the letter 'o' but with two dots on it, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_umlaut

We need a wordmark as well as a logo for our identity.
The wordmark must contain the text Option-U Software. This wordmark should be rectangular and will be used on our web site where space is no issue. The font should be clean and friendly (think Web 2.0 meets iPhone).
In addition, we also need a logo that fits into a square for an application icon. Similar to the Google logo, we would like to use a stylized first letter (the 'O') as our company logo. The twist is that the logo should somewhat resemble the German o umlaut (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_umlaut ).
It doesn't have to look exactly like an o umlaut, but it must contain two small dots/circles and a bigger circle.
Ideas we had were three cogs (for example http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thu…stack.jpg), but it's too technical. We would prefer something more friendly. (Two eyes, two wheels, two hands? You decide.) Anything goes as long as you can still recognize the 'O' (to connect with the name Option-U) and it has two small circles/dots in it.
For demonstration, please place the logo and the wordmark next to each other (landscape view) as well as on top of each other (portrait view); both landscape and portrait versions on a black and a white background.
Looking forward to your designs!
