GAIN & GAINnet
The Gainesville Area Innovation Network (GAIN) is one of the fastest growing entrepreneurship organizations in the country. It's social network of innovators, GAINnet: The Foundation for the Innovation Nation, can be found at http://my.gain-net.org/ but will be moving to gainnet.org with this logo/design change. Gainesville is home to the University of Florida's $600M+ of sponsored research and 5 different technology incubators, giving it more research and incubators per capita than any county in the US. The region is consistently ranked as a top city for an educated and innovative population -- most recently being projected as the top "creative class" job grower by Richard Florida and the #1 college town by Livability.com.
As the region's oldest and largest entrepreneurship organization, GAIN provides events, resources and networking to help founders create, fund and grow their companies. We are looking for a logo that can be used for GAIN (the organization) and tweaked for GAINnet (the innovators social network). The driving goal is a quality, modern logo design that matches an organization with innovation at its core; but any inclusion of infotech, medtech, cleantech, Gainesville or University elements are also welcome. Instead of being too rigid in our guidance, we'd prefer to see what top designers can do for defining The Foundation of the Innovation Nation.
Our target audience is innovators of all types: entrepreneurs, researchers, inventors, students, investors and service providers to the innovation ecosystem. We grew to almost 700 this year and expect to surpass 2,000 next year.
Gainesville is also a national hub for student startups, including the pioneer of cloud-based music streaming http://Grooveshark.com/ -- named one of the top 50 sites in the world by Time Magazine. Therefore, GAIN's logo needs to combine the quality, professionalism and experience of a 20+ year old organization with the edge of a young, innovative, student entrepreneur hotbed.
Old logo, look & feel can be found here: http://www.gain-net.org/public/index.asp
New look & feel can be found here: http://my.gain-net.org BUT do not focus only on those colors. Those colors are fine, but we also welcome tweaking colors of our social network for the best logo. Likewise, UF colors are orange & blue, a natural choice for Gainesville -- but NOT the only options. Also, despite our project title -- no rainbows, please.
Note, although our current domains and logos may reference "GAIN-net" (with hyphen), this design project is focused on GAIN/GAINnet (no hyphen) logo.
Give us your best!
