yakstand.com is an exciting new blog concept using the content of magazines to spark engaging conversation and interaction with it's members. Many of us have read a magazine and been encouraged by an informative how-to article, sold by a great product review (as I was with 99designs in Fast Company) or received a call to action by a heart warming article. At yakstand.com you can further build on those emotions and interact with a community of members who can relate and offer further information on the topic, expand your knowledge past the information received from the article, give a different viewpoint on the subject matter or offer their personal experience with a product or service.
Our goal is to bring an extension to the content of magazines and provide our community with a site full of relevant discussion, magazine news and targeted product offerings.
Avid magazine readers of all ages who would like to take their experience to a new level.
Let me give you a brief background on the name YAKSTAND. Since we are a magazine/newspaper discussion blog we decided to merge a couple words into the name. First is YAK, which is to talk, gab or chatter. Second is STAND, from newsstand.
We are interested in logos that embody the traditional Web 2.0 style including a full size logo as well as the square icon (ex. Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
We have uploaded a sample idea that we came up with. By no means is that the only design we want. Use it as inspiration and BE CREATIVE! We would like to see options with the Yak (animal) incorporated and/or magazines/newsstands.
Be SIMPLE and MEMORABLE. Web 2.0 logos are not complicated or detailed. BE ORIGINAL. We will not accept logos that are too similar to other logos used by other companies.
Please integrate the name yakstand.com in the logo either UNDER the main graphic or to THE RIGHT SIDE. We like the .com to be smaller font and vertical after the name. Please do not use script or overly curvy fonts.
Our tagline is Regurgitate What You Read so integrate that as well.
For colors use blue, green, orange or red (or any subsequent shade). Again, BE CREATIVE and use what works well for your design.
We will need .AI and layered .PSD files as well as the font names used.
