My Tech Purse
My Tech Purse brings together a highly-skilled specialist in web development and coding (Ben Schultz) with a PhD sociologist (Jeanne Hurlbert) who is an online marketer. Ben, who is trained as an electrical engineer, has extensive experience in coding (including PHP) and database development and management. He works with small and large businesses, as an entrepreneur. Jeanne has spent 25 years using surveys to study social networks; she helps small businesses do better surveys (through MySurveyExpert, w/partner Mike Koenigs) and MySocial MediaSolution (w/Joan Stewart). Jeanne and Ben constantly see women entrepreneurs who are hamstrung by tech challenges and/or held hostage by unscrupulous tech consultants. When Jeanne found Ben, she finally overcame those challenges because he not only is extremely competent but also has "people skills." They quickly realized the potential to help other women entrepreneurs achieve their dreams by showing them how to accomplish the basic tasks that they MUST know themselves and giving them access to competent tech support, for the tasks that can and should be outsourced, so they can grow their businesses and achieve their dreams.
Women entrepreneurs who either run online businesses or have a strong online presence. Even successful women entrepreneurs are often held back by failing to understand how to accomplish simple tech tasks. For example, Jeanne has seen JV partners who could not email their lists if their assistant was sick, because they had no clue how to do so. We will focus first on real estate agents, then move to other service-related niches and aspiring online marketers. Although a large part of the target market will be women entrepreneurs who are just starting out online, it will not be exclusively "newbies:" Many successful, "seasoned veteran" women entrepreneurs will flock to our services for affordable, high-quality tech support; the opportunity to develop continuity programs; assistance with social media; opportunities to develop video marketing; and more.
We want a simple, clean design that will appeal to women. Because we're targeting women entrepreneurs, we want it to be professional; but it clearly needs to appeal to women and be aesthetically pleasing.
My image is of a flowing outline of a female figure (reminiscent of some of the lines of R. C. Gorman) with something techy; something that represents being free to succeed would be what we're going for.
We do not want anything cheesy, condescending, or too "chicky;" your challenge, as a designer, will be to strike the balance between the professional side and the female appeal.
It needs to blend old and new, in the sense that it needs to combine strong knowledge with cutting-edge tech.
The logo must convey authority, credibility, and expertise. At the same time, it can't be intimidating; women need to feel that this is welcoming.
