Entrain is short for brain entrainment. This app enters the self-improvement market, similar to apps like Headspace, BrainHQ, and Calm. Entrain uses active biofeedback from breath, heart rate, and brain activity (EEG) in conjunction with lights and sounds to help walk your mind to the desired state.
When a user starts a session, they will place the phone in a VR headset (Google Cardboard), put on the Muse headset (EEG), a pair of headphones that also use binaural beats to induce the desired state. The screen of the phone pulsates lights, shapes, and colors throughout the session as brain activity changes.
Over the past few years, I have been on a personal quest to improve myself, especially cognitive performance. This app is the culmination of that research, and now a colleague and I are going to share with others so that they too, can share in the benefit this approach to cognitive performance combining several elements into one application.
The screenshots of the app are from the initial POC put together for initial testing. I will be adding a few elements for items that we want to make it to MVP. There are a few additional input elements to consider.
This is the first time I have run an app design contest, so do not hesitate to ask me any questions about the app.
The logo for entrain was run on 99designs, and it turns out AWESOME. If this contest turns out half as good, I'll be more than happy.
