Just Like My Child Foundation
Our mission is to alleviate the suffering of women, children, and families in rural Uganda using an approach we call deep development which means empowering communities, village by village, to create their own long-term solutions to healthcare, education, and microenterprise.
we focus on one local area, or cluster of villages, at a time and address critical issues simultaneously: disease, poor nutrition, inadequate education, unsafe drinking water, poor infrastructure, and lack of economic development. Our purpose is to empower communities by providing the infrastructure, support, and education that will enable sustainable, community-driven development. We do this by embedding ourselves in the community and fostering alliances with local change agents, creating connections between our donors and the families they impact, and always maintaining low overhead in order to make the greatest impact.
We've already achieved massive results, including the development of a hospital and 12 outlying clinics that serve over 600,000 people in 48 villages, building schools, and providing microenterprise education to help at-risk mothers become self-sustaining (saving tens of thousands of children's lives each year by reducing the death rate of their mothers).
You can learn more about us at http://www.justlikemychild.com.
Our target audience is our list of donors, volunteers, and friends of the foundation who want to be kept up to date on our progress. We share stories from the field, introducing the real men and women at the front lines of our work in Uganda, as well as the stories of the brilliant and courageous women and children they befriend and assist.
We are also reaching out to new friends who want to participate in philanthropy, or whose hearts are drawn to Africa. Our outreach is primarily geared toward entrepreneurs, business executives, and business owners. We network through personal development with Brendon Burchard, John Assaraf (from "The Secret"), and Tony Robbins. We also network through entrepreneurs and marketers with Frank Kern and Mike Koenigs.
We want to capitalize on our efforts and the efforts of our dearest friends by providing an email newsletter that encourages viral advocacy and inspires our readers to pay it forward and pass on our message and stories.
