Need a workbook cover as well as a template for interior pages. This will be a printed spiral-bound workbook, standard 8.5 x 11, that will be sold at the seminars I teach. The audience is mid-to-senior level professionals, savvy & high-end. They've read all the business books (and maybe written a few themselves) and won't drop $59 unless it's something special. The cover design must feel like a real book.
Riff on the title "The Reinvention Toolkit" for the design. Don't be constrained to stay in the obvious box. Keep in mind that even though you may be using images of tools, the design must be bold, colorful, clean (as in elegant and spare), and eye-catching. It must communicate uniqueness and high value.
For the cover, keep to photos (no illustrations); use stock images but with PUNCH-- I love strong and evocative visuals. NO PICTURES OF PEOPLE, AND NO CARTOONS! The color palette for our company is white and tangerine, with splashes of red and soft gray. Open to other colors for the product/book titles/interior template and for the imagery, but go beyond basic primaries (maybe something slightly to the left or right of the color wheel). Make sure that any colors used are in harmony with our basic tangerine & white palette.
For the interior template, it must be standard so that all the text content can be dropped in. No photos here; only color and arrangement that works in concert with the cover. There should be an eye-catching way to highlight pull quotes, book title and section on the top, and room on the bottom footer for our copyright and company contact information.
The design must print well in color Xerox as well as offset printing. I will need the artwork delivered in 300dpi jpeg and/or PDF. Check out our website and blog for examples of our 'look and feel', including imagery. I will check back frequently to give lots of feedback and guidance.
***Tagline bonus: extra $55 to the designer who comes up with the best tagline-- must capture themes of workbook, exercises, career.
