medimops necesitaba un nuevo diseño de página web y lanzó un concurso de diseño en 99designs.
Un ganador ha sido elegido entre 94 diseños de 23 diseñadores freelance.
Medimops (http://www.medimops.de, see the little flag for an English version) is an online shop for used CDs, DVDs and video/computer games. We’ve got about 300,000 different items in stock, and 80,000 of them are offered for 99 cents.
The purpose of the re-design of Medimops.de is that we want to:
– Add more categories (used books, new CDs/DVDs/Games, Tickets and electronics).
– Improve usability
– Expand and enhance cross-selling features
– Improve the overall look & feel
The structure of the site must comply with the following wireframe:

In addition to the redesign we want to re-fresh the design of the Medimops logo. Don’t change the logo completely. Just make it a little bit more respectable and a little bit more style - to get the old logo as .psd please contact me at chrisswegner@googlemail.com
The winner of the contest gets the job to design other templates of medimops.de, too.
The Medimops target group is + 35 years old, and a large number of buyers is 50 years or older. In the future, Medimops wants to attract younger target groups as well, so the design should work for people around 30 years, too – without alienating the existing customer base.
Design tasks:
- Design the startpage/homepage of medimops.de
- Design a re-freshed medimops logo (optional)
The structure of the site must comply with the following wireframe:

The main objective of the homepage is to get the visitor’s interest. We want to convey our key messages – the fact that we offer 100s of thousands of quality-checked used products at unbeatable prices in a secure online shop – and show the visitor some topics and products that he may be interested in.
Wants
- Likable and pleasant, informal yet respectable, simple, understandable design
- A nice visual teaser “300.000 quality checked used products”
- Similar color scheme like the current website.
- Must be compatible with 1024x768 resolutions
- Be modern, but not young. Be mature.
Sites that we like:
- Etsy.com (Great simple layout, very clean, nice overall aesthetic appeal. We especially like the fact that the site has a very strong structure without being "boxy" - the boxes give structure without getting into the way of the actual content).
- Threadless.com (GREAT color scheme and overall personality, great use of fonts (although a bit too fanciful for our purpose)).
Don't Wants
- Text that is so small that it’s hard to read
