This is similar to a "webpage" design project, because we're looking for some ideas for a new "look and feel" for our software user interface. We want some cooler-looking dialog boxes, more hip buttons, and a way more attractive color scheme. It should look at least a little hi-tech, because the software is for TV stations, but with an artistic flair that announces this isn't your ordinary boring production software.
Please just use the current screen shots as a template for your new design -- go to http://xycho.com to get them.
Visually, our client's software package is stuck in the 1980s or 90s. The colors are dreadful, the buttons horrific, the dialog boxes boring-boring-boring. We want to give users a whole new visual experience when they work with the next revision of this software. Maybe a Web 2.0 approach, with reflective surfaces and the rest. It can't be too "far out," because the users are TV production types with some engineering types thrown in. Maybe glass? Maybe polished stone? Maybe just a really streamlined look that makes the software look perfect for the year 2020? Or at least 2009! Use your imagination and give us something to impress our client with. They're excited about this "facelift" project, and can't wait to see what you come up with!
Again, go to http://xycho.com to take a look at the two actual "screen captures" that we want you to use as your model. Show us what your vision of a facelift would look like!

- fonts in the windows can remain the same- "professional" color scheme- everything else is up for grabs
- cartoonish stuff- garish colors- going overboard with competing textures
